Welcome to the Virginia Tech Graduate Academy for Teaching Excellence (GrATE). We hope that we can be of help to your teaching as a resource and mentorship program. Feel free to look around and join us in learning what teaching excellence means. Still, wondering what VT GrATE is about? Spring 2022 Application Cycle is Closed

If you are interested in joining GrATE, we will have another application cycle in the first few weeks of the Fall ’22 semester.

Application requirements are in the “Membership” tab on the menu, where you can then navigate to “Member,” “Associate,” or “Fellow” depending on which level of membership you are interested in applying for. If you need teaching evaluations, please connect with us for Peer Observation and we can help.

Have questions about the application? No worries, you can either email the program manager or submit a question to the Ask A Fellow form and someone will get back to you as soon as possible.


Guidelines for supporting Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) for Fall 2020

Graduate students are an integral part of the teaching community at Virginia Tech, and their well-being should be given consideration equal to that of any other instructor in the planning and execution of courses. Accordingly, GrATE with help from the Fall Teaching and Learning Working Group has prepared the following recommendations to support Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) in the conduct of their duties during the fall 2020 semester.
